Who I am and how I work

Griffin Oakley, MSCP, NCC, LMHC, LPC
I'm Griffin. I've been doing this work because I believe people are capable of more than just surviving what happened to them — and I've watched that happen enough times to know it's true.
I specialize in childhood trauma, complex PTSD, attachment wounds, and identity. I work with adults who are high-functioning on the outside and exhausted on the inside — people who are ready to actually deal with it rather than just manage it.
I hold dual licensure as an LMHC and LPC, a Master's in Counseling Psychology, and national board certification as an NCC. My clinical training includes CBT, DBT, ACT, and SFBT, alongside attachment theory, polyvagal theory, parts work, and somatic approaches.
I'm based in the Portland Metro area and serve clients throughout Oregon and Florida via telehealth.
My approach
What actually happens when we work together
I don't do surface-level therapy. We're going to look at where your patterns came from, why they made sense at the time, and why they're getting in your way now. That means going toward the hard stuff — not around it.
The name Curious Mind isn't accidental. Curiosity is the whole approach. Not judgment, not fixing — genuine curiosity about why you are the way you are and what's actually possible for you.
I work with adults throughout Florida and Oregon via telehealth. Sessions are focused, direct, and built around you — not a script.

What I believe.
Therapy isn't a straight line and I'm not going to pretend it is. Some sessions will feel like breakthroughs. Some will feel like you've gone backwards. Both are part of it.
What I believe is simple: you are not your history. The things that happened to you shaped you — but they don't have to run you. That's the whole point of the work.

Specializations
Trauma therapy:
Childhood abuse, neglect, sexual trauma, and the ways it shows up in your adult life — relationships, body, behavior.
Attachment therapy
Why you connect the way you do, why it keeps going sideways, and how to change it.
LGBTQ+ affirming therapy:
A space where your identity isn't a problem to be solved. Whether you're navigating coming out, religious trauma, or just want a therapist who gets it.
CPTSD and childhood trauma recovery:
Complex trauma isn't one event — it's a whole history. We work through it layer by layer, at your pace.
ADHD and Bipolar Disorder:
When your brain works differently and the standard advice has never quite fit. We work with how you're actually wired, not how you're supposed to be.
